London & South Western Railway - Horsebox

This model started life as a Lima Horsebox and was taken apart to allow for the removal of the roof vents, making it more realistic in appearance. The body and roof have been repainted with matt varnish being applied after new lettering and numbers. The chassis has been re-wheeled with new Hornby disc wheels, the couplings have been changed to modern narrow Hornby/Bachmann type and a vacuum pipe added to each end. Horseboxes were usually attached to passenger trains, but were also known to run in ‘special trains’ to various race meetings, such as Epsom, Newmarket, etc.
